Apex Cultivation is a newer way to run a grow in adilas, on the Apex look: one home with today's work, a screen for each batch and a screen for each harvest. It is a pilot that each company turns on for itself. The classic Cultivation Homepage, its labels, reports and tabs stay one click away, and plants, batches and harvests are the same adilas records either way, so the classic pages and Apex Cultivation show the same numbers.
Turning it on
- Open Cultivation setup: "Apex Cultivation setup (pilot)" in the Cultivation Homepage's settings links, the Setup button on the Apex Cultivation home, or the link on the Cultivation Homepage's message when cultivation is not set up yet. It needs the Cultivation Settings permission and the Apex look.
- A company with no cultivation setup gets Set up cultivation. Pick what you grow (cannabis tracked in Metrc, cannabis or hemp without Metrc, a nursery or greenhouse, or vegetables and field crops), type your strains or varieties one per line, and name the cultivation vendor. It makes the cultivation vendor (with your company's address), one item per strain, the Plants, Flower and Trim categories (one Harvest category for nurseries and crops), the plant details (Mother Plant ID, Wet Weight, Processed Weight, Plant Origin, Batch Number), the phase and harvest templates and the cultivation settings. Anything your company already has is kept, and running it again only adds what is missing, such as new strains.
- Tick Use Apex Cultivation for this company (pilot). People on the Apex look then get Apex Cultivation when they open the Cultivation Homepage; its "Classic Cultivation Homepage" link takes them back to the classic page for the rest of their session.
- The permissions are the classic cultivation pages' own: the same people can see, change and set up cultivation.
Phases
- The phases are Propagation, Vegetative, Flower and Harvest, in that order. On Cultivation setup, say what each one is (start, growing, flowering or harvest), its target days (0 for none) and whether each plant needs its own tag there. Set the drying target there too.
- Keep those four names while anyone uses the classic Cultivation Homepage: its phase tab only opens for them. Apex Cultivation works with any names. Renaming a phase on the time template does not rename it on plants already in it.
The home
- Find: scan or type a plant tag, the last digits of a tag, a PO number or a batch name. One match opens it.
- Today lists batches past their target days in a phase, batches in a phase that needs tags with plants still untagged, harvests drying longer than the drying target, and Metrc sends that failed in the last day. It is worked out each time you open the page.
- Batches are grouped by phase, with plant counts by room and strain. Open harvests are listed below them.
- Start plants starts a batch in the first phase: the batch name, strain, room, number of plants (up to 500), start date, and the origin and mother plant if you know them. Untagged plants can start as one group with a count instead of one line per plant.
A batch
- Pick the plants, then Move phase, Move room, Tags, Note, Destroy or Harvest.
- Taking part of a group (say 40 of 480 liners) splits those plants into their own line, and the rest of the group stays where it is. Tagging plants in a group splits off one plant for each tag.
Harvests
- Harvest (on the batch screen): a harvest name (each one different), the type (hang whole wet plants, whole dry hang, wet trim, fresh frozen or unassigned), the date, the drying room, and wet weights for each plant or one total split across them. The harvest is wet until its dry weights are in.
- On the harvest screen, Record dry weights takes each plant's dry weight (or one total) and the waste. The harvest is then cured.
- Package the harvest: one row per package with the item, the grams and its own tag if it has one. The packages go on a build PO as new inventory. The items come from the Flower and Trim categories (and any packaging categories) under the cultivation vendor, so add the items you package into there first.
- Package it all at once and finish the harvest, or package some now and the rest later. Each sitting has its own build PO, and each plant gives up its share of what was packaged, by its dry grams. The last sitting finishes the harvest, and the plants' dry grams that were not packaged are used up. Once packaging has begun, the dry weights can't change. The harvest lists its packages so far.
Metrc: when your company sends to Metrc, every change in Apex Cultivation goes to Metrc first, and adilas saves only what Metrc takes. Anything Metrc refuses is listed with Metrc's own words, and nothing else changes for it.
- Metrc's names (locations, strains, items, waste reasons and types) are picked from Metrc's own lists on each card. The one named like your adilas room, strain or item is picked for you.
- Start plants adds clones or seeds, and what your state needs to start a plant batch: a seed package or a mother plant (Massachusetts, Maine, Oregon, Colorado), or a package of immature plants or a mother plant (California).
- Plants get their Metrc tags as they leave their plant batch: Move phase from the first phase to a growing phase asks for each plant's tag (for a group, one per line). Tags replaces the tag of a plant Metrc already has.
- Metrc cannot move plants back to an earlier phase, and it harvests plants from Flowering, so those moves are refused. Untagged plants move room as a whole plant batch.
- Destroy asks for Metrc's waste reason and, when the reason needs them, the waste weight, unit and method. The weight is the total for the plants destroyed.
- Harvest asks for the Metrc location the harvest dries in. The dry weights stay in adilas; the waste goes to Metrc with Metrc's waste type.
- Finish into packages takes up to 10 packages at a time, each with its Metrc package tag and Metrc item, then finishes the harvest in Metrc.
Where it differs from the classic pages
- Finishing uses up each plant's dry grams; the classic finish uses up 0 g unless a processed weight is mapped.
- Recording dry weights keeps each plant's tag and vendor, and a group keeps its plant count.
Still on the classic pages: plant labels, the cultivation reports and the classic tabs. What the pilot companies tell us decides what comes to Apex Cultivation next: tell adilas support what takes too long, or any number that differs from the classic pages.
