General Ledger - Month-end: Review, Workpapers and Close
  • Exceptions: records the ledger had to make a choice about, each with what it did and what would fix it. Fixing the record clears it on the next update.
  • Review: things worth a second look, such as possible duplicates, unusual amounts and round numbers. Dismiss one with a note when it is fine.
  • Workpapers: reconcile each balance sheet account at month end (support, difference, explanation), prepared by one person and reviewed by another. Flux shows accounts that changed more than your threshold and asks why.
  • Close: a checklist for the month, then close it. Closing moves the ice-down date, so nothing on or before it can change. It needs permission to change the company-wide settings.
  • Questions: notes and questions on an entry, an account or a month, for the bookkeeper and the accountant.
  • Audit: who changed what in the ledger, and when.
